Biological issues are at the forefront of the technological advance of modern society, and are central to global concerns about how we affect, and are affected by, our environment. Understanding the complexity of biological systems, at scales ranging from single molecules to whole ecosystems, provides a unique intellectual challenge. With twenty-two biological research groups, Wageningen University can offer tailor-made MSc programmes that allow students to specialise in a field that appeals to their personal interest. The following themes are offered during the MSc programme. Animal adaptation and behavioural biology Biointeractions Biology of micro-organisms Conservation and systems ecology Evolution and biodiversity Health and disease Marine biology Molecular regulation Plant adaptation Systems biology We strongly encourage our students to complete part of their programme requirements abroad.
Biology is a very broad field and biologists are therefore suited for jobs at different areas. That can be in the direction of your own unique specialization, but perhaps also on another biological or non-biological function. As a graduated biologist, you can work in research, as an advisor or specialist, in management or policy, etc.
