Course overview

Documentary film has become one of the most powerful mediums of communication. The documentary film production program at Prague Film School aims at developing students’ story telling abilities through both intensive practical work and documentary film theory and analysis.

Instruction and theory classes are based on intensive practice; every student will have to complete a series of documentary film projects or training exercises during the program

Documentary film production focuses on Dramaturgy, Script Development, Cinematography, Editing

Story telling techniques are honed through the dramaturgy and documentary script development classes, drawing upon a rich pool of international and historical documentaries crossing themes and genres.

Aesthetic, technical and craft skills are inculcated through courses covering lighting, composition, camera movement, sound, and editing.

In addition to these core classes, Documentary Film Program students have to study 2-3 elective courses, covering such topics as Film History and Theory, Film Shot, Color Theory, Post-Production FX, and other.
