The application portfolio should contain a portfolio, application project and CV. PART 1 - Portfolio The portfolio should show documentation of a) a selection of your realized design work, with focus on experimental work, and of b) your process of conceptualizing and developing design ideas, in e.g. sketching etc.
PART 2 - Application project Tell us why you apply for a master by a description of the issues you wish to focus on during your master studies. Your description might change later on but we should be able to see your interests and possible directions in your work. Supplement with sketches, relevant previous work or references. In the application project, specialisation (textile design or fashion design) should be noted, together with a description of the issues the student wishes to focus on during his/her work within the frame of the design project courses of the programme. PART 3 - CV Your CV should describe completed and ongoing educations, courses, works, internships, projects and other experiences showing your competence. Specific requirements for Non-EU applicants: Non-EU students need to have paid the tuition fee for the first semester 135000 SEK before the start of the course in order to get the official admission letter.
The Master’s Programme in Textile and Fashion Design aims to further develop and deepen your artistic, technical, theoretical and reflective skills and abilities as textile/fashion designers. The programme offers in-depth practice-based studies in work developed by the students in a progressing system that starts with the application project and ends with degree work.
Critical reflection is embedded in courses that relate historical art and design analysis and theory to a diverse range of practises; from projects that focus on your individual abilities to collaborative artistic projects in cooperation with organisations, institutes and companies. Thus, the programme enhances individual artistic and technical skills, ultimately aiming at training professional designers with high artistic proficiency that are excellent practitioners of design, or able to go into practice-based design research, or both.
Depending on your BA degree in design, you choose area of specialisation: textile design or fashion design, with sub-divisionary applications. Specific challenges and discourses are intrinsically linked to each area of specialisation, but also open up for work where these intersect.
