What is a Mechatronics Engineer? The combination of mechanics, electronics and software is used in everything from robots to refrigerators. With a Master of Engineering degree in Mechatronics you could, for example, make smaller and faster information technology products or create energy saving products. Your thorough knowledge and understanding of Mechatronics enables you to create innovative technological solutions to everyday challenges. As a master student you can specialise in four areas: Nanotechnology, Embedded Control Systems, Dynamic Mechatronic Systems and Thermal Energy Systems.
The course in advanced mechatronics and scientific methods provides you with a thorough and extensive knowledge which you will increase with an academic profile of your choice. As part of the master programme you choose one of four profiles and specialise in your special field of interests.
Choose between the following academic profiles: - Thermal Energy Systems: teaches you to calculate, model and optimise thermal systems and processes in the energy sector – focussing on effective energy consumption. - Nanotechnology: you will work with electronic systems and information technology in nano-dimensions. - Embedded Control Systems: enables you to develop advanced control systems that will meet future demands. - Dynamic Mechatronic Systems: among other things, you will work with mathematical modelling to improve the product development of mechatronic and dynamic systems
Career opportunities
With a master degree in Mechatronics you will typically be in high demand at companies that develop intelligent products with high technology content. Another area of work would be the research sector where you could contribute with application-oriented research. In the future, you will also be qualified as an expert of Thermal Energy Systems in the energy sector.
