Located in beautiful South Wales about two and a half hours away from London, with campuses in the heart of the Welsh vibrant capital city, Cardiff, and also in the scenic countryside, 20 minutes’ train ride outside the city, the University of Glamorgan has something to offer everyone. Glamorgan has almost 100 years of experience in higher education, and has developed into a thriving, modern University with a reputation for excellent learning and teaching, a growing recognition for international research excellence, first class facilities and outstanding student support.
With a student population of almost 24,000 students, with well over 3000 of those from outside the UK, the environment at Glamorgan is multi-cultural, friendly and supportive.
Besides the fantastic location and highly appreciated courses, undergraduate students from EU countries can also take advantage of the Welsh Assembly Government tuition fee grant, meaning that tuition fees for the year 2012/13 are just £3,465 for most programmes. About the UK

Glamorgan is a good choice for the cost-conscious. Glamorgan has a low cost of living; proving to be great value for money and a particularly wise choice for students today.
South Wales offers great value for money – Cardiff has been voted the best value city by the British Tourist Authority for ten successive years. It has also been voted the best value city in all of Europe! Food, entertainment, accommodation and other day-to-day costs are likely to be lower than in many other parts of the UK. With your NUS card you’ll also get lots of concessions on everything from cinema tickets to haircuts. So, all in all, your money will go further at the University of Glamorgan.

Accommodation
For the majority of international students, coming to Glamorgan means living away from home for the first time. There’s a great selection of accommodation here Glamorgan – from halls of residence on campus to privately rented rooms in the local area – so you should be able to find something that is right for you.
It’s important to allow yourself plenty of time to make your accommodation choice – you’ll be living here for quite a long time!
Halls of residence
The on-campus halls of residence are the most convenient type of accommodation available. For students studying at Treforest or Glyntaff, the on-campus accommodation is situated at the main campus (Treforest), and facilities including the Learning Resources Centre, Information Systems Department, The Centre for Sport, Health & Exercise and Students Union are close by. For students studying at Cardiff, there are three privately owned accommodation options for Glamorgan students, one of which is directly opposite the ATRiuM campus. Living in halls of residence is a great opportunity to meet new people, make friends and enjoy your independence whilst living in a safe and secure environment.
Privately rented accommodation
If you’d prefer to live off-campus in private accommodation in the local area, we can help you find something suitable. For an off-campus standard room you could expect to pay around £45 – £70 per week. Some international students prefer to stay with a host family or share a house with British students as it provides them with a good opportunity to improve their English.

Working
International students who are studying on a course lasting longer than six months are normally allowed to work for 20 hours per week during term-time and unlimited hours during vacations. Students may find part-time jobs as administration assistants, receptionists, customer service assistants etc. Students may find job ads in newspapers or at school. Finding job may be difficult but if you really need and want it, you will find one.
You should keep in mind to have at least 4 month’s money before arrival as it may take time to find a job. If you don’t then it is advisable to work for some time before you start your studies.
Student jobs hourly wage minimum is around £4.83 per hour if you are aged 18-21 years and £5.80 per hour if you are 22 or over.
