Overview

Located in beautiful South Wales about two and a half hours away from London, with campuses in the heart of the Welsh vibrant capital city, Cardiff, and also in the scenic countryside, 20 minutes’ train ride outside the city, the University of Glamorgan has something to offer everyone. Glamorgan has almost 100 years of experience in higher education, and has developed into a thriving, modern University with a reputation for excellent learning and teaching, a growing recognition for international research excellence, first class facilities and outstanding student support.

With a student population of almost 24,000 students, with well over 3000 of those from outside the UK, the environment at Glamorgan is multi-cultural, friendly and supportive.

Besides the fantastic location and highly appreciated courses, undergraduate students from EU countries can also take advantage of the Welsh Assembly Government tuition fee grant, meaning that tuition fees for the year 2012/13 are just £3,465 for most programmes. At postgraduate level, there are Postgraduate Masters Scholarships available for students with an excellent academic profile.

Employability

At Glamorgan, the employability of graduates is considered as the key element. The University has a strong record of working with the professions, industry, commerce and the voluntary sector to ensure that their academic programmes meet industries' needs. Glamorgan produces workplace-ready graduates who possess the higher-level skills required by employers to drive forward innovation and remain competitive. It’s no surprise then that Glamorgan has one of the best student employment rates in Wales (94.3% compared to a UK average of 89.9%). In a recent survey, 44% of business said Glamorgan's graduates were more employable than those from other Welsh universities.

A key opportunity for students at Glamorgan is useful, relevant work experience. Recent examples of this include an accountancy student studying for professional qualifications whilst working at Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, part of the prestigious Johnson & Johnson Corporation, and an aircraft maintenance student working alongside engineers at General Electric. Business students have summer work placements, arranged by the University, with companies including Rolls-Royce and Microsoft. These are major names in the business world, providing work experience opportunities which make our students employable before they graduate.
