Higher education in GermanyGermany has a lot to offer to foreign students, be they first-year students or postgraduates. As to cost then the following applies as a rule of thumb: around 700 euro per month is required for a course of study in Germany, and this is on top of university tuition fees which are moderate compared to many other countries. Nuremberg offers you three underground lines, many trams, trains and buses. Erlangen has a large offer of trains and buses. The two cities are optimally connected by train and bus. The student hostels of the so-called Student Union (Studentenwerk) are spread all over Erlangen and Nuremberg. Many of them are located in the central area of the city.
International students have a variety of places to work. You can find a part-time job, for example at local public companies, bars & cafes or even at the university as a „Research Assistant“. You are allowed to work up to 19 hours per week during semesters and full time during the breaks.
