COURSE SUMMARY

The focus of this foundation degree is on enhancing your skills and
creativity to gain the high levels of craftsmanship required to design
and make costumes for Caribbean-style carnivals.

CAREER MANAGEMENT SKILLS

Careers development is integrated into the course and the course
seeks to provide you with an awareness of the real world context of
the creative industries in general and carnival arts in particular.
You will be helped to develop a strategy for obtaining appropriate
employment at the end of your course.

Professional practice will be emphasised as part of all learning
units but the work related and work based learning units especially
will help you to become more focused on managing your career. You will
be helped with the preparation of a professional portfolio as well as
a CV (Curriculum Vitae) and material so that you can market yourself.

CAREER/FURTHER STUDY OPPORTUNITIES

Career:

Specifically work as a designer / maker in the carnival arts sector.
This may be as part of a team or may ultimately involve you in self
employment.

You will also have gained designing and making skills that could lead
to employment in the film and television industry or in the display
industry.

(Hons) Art and Design course.
